Brays Island Plantation to Host Croquet Tournament

Brays Island Plantation will again host the Beaufort Marine Institute Invitational Croquet Tournament. In its 18th year, the event has grown to 32, 8-person teams and includes a silent auction and picnic. Last year’s event raised more than $55,000 for the Institute.

The Beaufort Marine Institute (BMI) is a non-profit residential facility that serves as an alternative to prison for juvenile offenders. Three out of four BMI graduates never commit another crime as compared to 50 percent of youth who go to jail. Located on Honeybee Island, South Carolina the Beaufort Marine Institute houses 36 young men ranging in age from 14 to 17 and provides carefully supervised training 24 hours a day. With guidance, support and enforced limits, delinquent youth can develop into confident, well-adjusted and law-abiding adults. Beaufort Marine Institute cares about the kids society has given up on and gives them the tools they need to succeed in life. At BMI, structure, discipline, love and positive role models make the difference, “one kid at a time.”

"Our small role in this event is rewarding one. BMI is a great organization that is making a positive impact in the community and in the lives of these kids" said Tray Maltby, IGM Golf Course Superintendent of preparing the courts for the event.

This year’s event will take place on May 8th and 9th. For more information, to participate or to make a donation to this worthy cause contact Mike Ingram at (843) 846-3149 or by email at mingram@braysisland.org.

What happens to my maintenance staff when I outsource with IGM?

Together, we develop a transition plan that meets the mutual needs of the employees, the client and IGM. The client's incumbent staff is always offered the first opportunity to take positions with IGM. Many times IGM will hire the client's entire staff and indoctrinate them to our methods and procedures. In the wake of change, it is inevitable that some people will elect to seek employment elsewhere. Our track record is our best reference here. We have numerous success stories of incumbent staff members assuming leadership roles and making a career with IGM.

If I outsource, will I lose control of my golf maintenance operation?

Not with IGM. We give you more control over the outcome of golf course maintenance activities by allocating resources to the things that will produce the results you expect. You get more time to concentrate on the things that are important to you because we do take control of things like dealing with numerous vendor accounts, writing payroll checks, managing worker's compensation risks, applying pesticides effectively, and dealing with regulatory agencies. These are the things you will want us to control.

Located in the mountains of western North Carolina, the property also has 115 newly renovated rooms, meeting space, two unique restaurants, a pool and a spa – perfect for a mountain retreat! “This is a neat facility with remarkable views and a beautiful landscape. IGM Maintained Ledges Golf Club Ranked in Top Ten

The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts has gone from being a local gem to receiving statewide recognition by GolfLink.com. In its first showing in the list of Best Massachusetts golf courses, The Ledges was ranked number eight.

The GolfLink website explains “…similar lists are often produced by various golf publications and tend to rate golf courses based solely on the subjective views of a handful of editors. The GolfLink list is calculated based upon an objective range of factors, including the preferences of up to a million visitors to the site each month.”

"It’s great to see all of the effort pay off. With the great playing conditions provided by IGM and the terrific service by our staff, the course has developed into one of the best golf experiences in New England, and we are very proud." commented Marissa Kulig, The Ledges Head Golf Professional.
